Try the latest version of Redacted! Updated Weapons, Missions and exploding stars!

Hold onto your seats, fellow scavengers! Another round of Redacted updates is here! It for sure has been a while and I have a good reason for the delay of a new build, I was actually [REDACTED] and somehow ended up in [REDACTED]. And oh boy, I had no idea what to do, so I [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] so here we are... Maybe too much?

Alright, back to the update!

- Major UI overhaul. The player HUD is now much cleaner and actually has a coherent style that fits with the rest of the game. Speaking of UI, the game is now completely playable with a gamepad! The armoury has been reworked and is now fully functional. This took a lot of time and i am really happy how it turned out! In order to equip weapons, the player needs to purchase the weapon and add it to one of four slots.

-  Enemies. I have modeled and animated new enemies. Currently there are only three types but I hope to make more in the coming months. 3D modeling has always been a challenge but learning Blender the past months has really been a treat! Rigging your models and see them come to life is really exciting, cannot wait to show you what ideas I have in mind! This will also aid in finally making the models for the weapons.

- New enemy, Guardian. A standarzied security drone that appears around the galaxy in Redacted. After the AI, that were supposed to automate the task of the Galactic Federation, went rogue, these bots turned on their creators and other members of the organization. They are equipped with a plasma cannon that has a secondary rapid fire mode. Be sure to watch out for when its muzzle turns blue: taking on a full barrage will delete that shield!

- New enemy, Bladebot. These pesky bots look cute from afare but once notcing a fleshy scavenger looking for loot, they will deploy their razor sharp blades to shred it to pieces! You better be quick on your feet cause they move fast!

- New enemy, Destroyer. The Destroyer is Guardian that wanted a upgrade. With twin plasma cannons and missile soiloes for firing hoing rockets, these bis boys will annilihate everything in their path. You better gear up. To bring down these titans down you gotta have a lot of fire power!

- Critical hit. Most enemies have weak points that will reward players with a double damage upon hit. Together with nice visual and audio feedback, gettin those crits are always a treat. Be sure to aim right!

- Crates. There are now three different crates that I have modeled and rigged, each with their own unique opening animation. These crates will have scraps in them with each crate spawning scraps of different ties (more on that later). For now, they are more of a prototype to get the looting during missions working and I will come back to these and improve their models. I also want better and more sci-fi-y animations. I just have to watch some more Blender tutorials...

- Scraps updated.  Scraps have been expanded upon, now having 4 different tiers where each having its unique color, value and chance of dropping. The higher the tier the better the loot! Scraps can be found from crates as well as from defeated enemies. I have also improved the HUD when it comes to collecting scraps, so the added scraps counter will update correctly and add to your current pool after a delay, making it easier for the player to actually see how much was collected.

- New Level, Mission 1. I have finally added a mission to the game! This means the game now has a complete gameloop, letting the player choose a level to play, gather scraps, defeat bots and upgrade their gear. Mission 1 is a rough blockout of how I visualize the levels could play out, once I narrow down the story of the game as well as conretize the art style. And hopefully make my own modular assets...

- New Gadget, the Dash. A lot of the feedback from the last build was the game being  a bit to slow and the player movement being chunky and heavy. So I added a dash and it surprisingly fit the game really well! This gadget can be utilized to dash in any direction to evade incoming fire or get a jump on the enemy. I noticed the Dash together with Shellburster being an extremely deadly combo in Arena, be sure to try it out! This gadget is still getting tweaks so it may undergo some changes till the next build to make it more balanced as well as more intuitive.

- New Weapon, the Sunbreaker! This weapon is really unique, letting you charge up a miniature sun. At full charge, it launches a slow moving projectile that does not deal that much damage, but the fun comes when shooting at it again with a less charged shot! This will implode the projectile and make it fire off homing solar flares towards nearby enemies! You will be sure to heat up combat with this one!

- Miscellaneous

Upon death, the player will have two options, either retry the current mission or return to the ship. This will add some fluidty to the gameplay instead of having to navigate the menu every time.

- Bug fixes: - fixed bug where the player upon returning to the ship would open the main menu instead.

- if the player tries to collect health or ammo even though those are already filled, the item will not be picked up. This is more of a feature since I had to rewrite the pick up system to get information about the needed variables. Now, upon trying picking up health or ammo, it will only be picked up if ammo reserves of any weapon is not full or health is not full. I am still playing around with a system that could work with shields. Maybe have something that could divide shields into parts?

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the newest build of Redacted!
